West End homes, old and new

Up the slope from Boundary Street you will find timber workers' cottages and Queenslanders, many with tiny lots and parking squeezed under the house. These suit a compact wallbox mounted beside the bay, with the circuit coming from a board that may need some attention first. If your board is the original or close to it, we will explain your options rather than force an upgrade you do not need.

Down on the flats, much of the old industrial land along Montague Road and the river has become apartment buildings with basement or podium car parks. A charger there needs body corporate approval, a route from your meter or a building supply, and a billing arrangement. Newer buildings are increasingly choosing a shared system with load management, which is fairer to the building's supply and easier to bill.

Townhouses fall somewhere in the middle. Many have their own garage and meter, which makes them close to a house install, but the by-laws still apply.
