Connex Electrical, a licensed electrical contractor (#92217) based in Mango Hill, installs EV chargers in Pallara. Standard home installs are from $990 installed (inc GST), take about 2 to 4 hours and come with a fixed written quote. Pallara's homes are mostly very recent builds, often with tightly packed switchboards, so finding room for the charger circuit is the main thing we check.

Room on a builder's board

Volume builders size switchboards for the house as planned, with little spare. In many Pallara homes, we open the board to find every slot used: lights, power, air conditioning, oven, cooktop, hot water. A dedicated EV circuit needs space for a breaker and RCD protection. If there is none, we either fit a small extension enclosure beside the board or rearrange what is there, which is usually quicker and cheaper than a full upgrade.

Supply capacity is the other check. Newer homes with ducted air conditioning, an induction cooktop and electric hot water can draw a lot at once. A charger with load management watches the home's total load and slows down when it needs to.

Once that is sorted, the install is simple. Pallara homes usually have the garage at the front with the meter box close by, which keeps the cable run short.

Pallara install notes

Pallara has grown quickly over the past decade, with new estates replacing what was once semi-rural land. If you are building, ask your builder to run conduit from the board to the garage wall. It costs very little during construction and makes adding a charger later much easier.

Smart meters come standard in new homes, so switching to a time-of-use plan is easy if you want to charge overnight at lower rates. Your retailer sets the actual prices.

For buyers of new builds, our home EV charger installation page covers what to plan for. We also check Energex requirements and issue a Certificate of Testing and Compliance on every job.

How much does EV charger installation cost in Pallara?

Expect to pay from $990 inc GST for a standard single-phase charger install in Pallara, plus the charger itself. That is the price for most garages and carports. Long runs, switchboard upgrades and three-phase chargers are the only common extras, and Connex Electrical quotes them in writing before you book.

Pallara installs: what changes the price
SituationPrice
Garage or carport close to a modern switchboardFrom $990 installed (inc GST)
Charger on the far side of the house, or a detached garageStandard price plus the extra cable, quoted from photos
Older board with fuses or no safety switchesStandard price plus a switchboard upgrade, quoted separately
Three-phase home with an 11kW or 22kW chargerQuoted per job

Every standard install includes its own circuit and safety switch protection, the cable run within the standard length, mounting and setup, full testing and a Certificate of Testing and Compliance. The charger itself is extra unless you already own one.

Keeping your Pallara install affordable

  • Already have a charger from the dealer? We install it, so you only pay for installation.
  • If a second EV is coming, size the cable for it now rather than paying for a second callout later.
  • Mount the charger on the garage wall closest to the meter box. A shorter run is the easiest saving.
  • Charge overnight on an off-peak tariff, or from surplus solar, to keep running costs low.

Pallara is about 42 km from Mango Hill, roughly 45 minutes via the Gateway Motorway. We can usually confirm board space from a photo before booking the install.

Every Pallara job gets a fixed written price before any work starts, so the quote is what you pay. For a line-by-line breakdown, see the EV charger installation cost guide for Brisbane, or call 0474 207 609.

Common questions in Pallara

My new Pallara home's switchboard looks full. Can a charger still be added?

Usually, yes. If there is no spare slot, we can fit a small extension enclosure next to the board for the new breaker and RCD, or reorganise the existing circuits. A full board replacement is rarely needed in a new home. Send us a photo of the open board and we can tell you which option fits.

What does it cost to install an EV charger in Pallara?

A standard single-phase install in Pallara is from $990 inc GST with Connex Electrical, plus the charger unless you already have one. Long cable runs, switchboard upgrades and three-phase chargers cost extra and are quoted in writing first. Most installs take 2 to 4 hours.

What is the most affordable way to install an EV charger in Pallara?

Put the charger close to the switchboard, choose a 7kW single-phase unit and send photos so we can quote without a visit. If you already have a charger, you only pay for installation, at the standard $990 inc GST. Every quote is fixed, so there are no surprises on the day.

My house is fairly new. Is installation simpler?

Usually, yes. Homes built in the last 15 to 20 years tend to have modern switchboards with safety switches and spare space, and the garage is often close to the board. That keeps most installs at the standard price. We still confirm your supply capacity, especially if you have ducted air conditioning, a pool or an existing solar system.

What is load management on an EV charger?

Load management lets the charger slow down when the rest of the property is drawing a lot of power, then speed up again when demand drops. It protects your main supply from overloading, so you can often avoid a costly supply upgrade. It is standard practice in apartments and businesses and useful in homes with big loads like ducted air conditioning.

Which EV charger should I buy?

Choose on three things: whether you want solar-matched charging, whether you need an app and scheduling, and your budget. A Tesla Wall Connector suits Tesla owners and works with other EVs too. A Zappi or Wattpilot suits solar homes. Simpler units suit plain overnight charging. Tell us your car and setup and we will recommend two or three options.
